This weeks student-athlete spotlight features Edley Drawhorn.
Edley Drawhorn is a sophomore transfer from Division II Lenoir-Rhyne University in North Carolina. Edley is from Virginia Beach, Virginia and attended Princess Anne High School where won three high school state championships. Recently Edley was a recipent of the Indian River State College Student-Athlete Top 10% Academic Award for her efforts in the classroom during her first semester at IRSC. She earned a 3.81 grade point average while majoring in Biology as she plans to be a nurse.
This past week Edley assisted her team in a decisive win over Broward College where she averaged 27 points, 7rebs and went 13-19 from the floor. The following game Drawhorn scored almost half her teams points contributing 26 poiints, 10 rebs while goign 10-12 from the free-throw line in a disappointing loss to Miami Dade.
For the week the River's team captain, Edley Drawhorn averaged 26.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal while shooting 53% from the floor and 73% from the free throw line. On the season she averaging 14 point per game and 9 rebounds, while in conference play she is averaging 23 points per gamen 10 rebounds. That currently has her ranked #1 in Region 8 in scoring in conference play and #8 for the season in scoring and rebounds.
