NJCAA National Records Set as IRSC Wins River Collegiate Invite!
FORT PIERCE, FL – Indian River State College (IRSC) hosted a stellar 3-day River Collegiate Invitational, welcoming Florida Southern College, St. Thomas University, Rollins College, and Barry University to the pool. The event showcased high-level collegiate swimming and diving competition, with IRSC emerging victorious on both the men's and women's sides.
Indian River took the lead from day one and extended it each day with impressive swims throughout the competition.
Action on Day One saw wins from the women's 200 free relay (Nika Tomic, Sara Safranko, Sofia Kogelschatz, and Ana Villamil), women's 400 medley relay (Nika Tomic, Ana Villamil, Ane Meier, and Sara Safranko), the men's 200 free relay (Oliver Nell, Riccardo Pandin, Felipe Costa, and Gabriel Morales), and the 400 medley relay (Gabriel Morales, Kito Campbell, Oliver Nell, and Riccardo Pandin).
Individual event winners included Aurora Zanin and Elliot Weisel in the 500 free, Ane Meier in the 200 IM, and Sara Safranko and Oliver Nell in the 50 free.
On Day Two, a new NJCAA National Record was set in the first men's event, the 200 medley relay. The team of Gabriel Morales, Kito Campbell, Oliver Nell, and Riccardo Pandin broke the 2012 record with a new time of 1:26.60. IRSC also won the women's 200 medley relay with Nika Tomic, Ana Villamil, Sofia Kogelschatz, and Sara Safranko. The team went on to win the 800 free relays, with the women's team consisting of Aurora Zanin, Ane Meier, Nika Tomic, and Sara Safranko.

Individual winners included Aurora Zanin (400 IM), Kelly Zwart (100 fly), Ane Meier and Elliot Weisel (200 free), Kito Campbell (100 breast), and Nika Tomic and Gabriel Morales (100 back).
Day Three action saw Nika Tomic tie the existing women's 200 backstroke NJCAA record from 2008, winning with a time of 1:58.63. Elliot Weisel won a hard-fought battle with teammate Knut Robinson in the 1650 free, while Sara Safranko and Riccardo Pandin captured wins in their 100 free events. Aurora Zanin added another victory in the 200 fly. Both the women's team (Tomic, Meier, Zwart, and Safranko) and the men's team (Tom Ferguson, Pandin, Chase Foulds, and Costa) closed the meet with dominant performances in the 400 freestyle relay events.
