Bio

Diving Coach David Suba is entering his 20th season with the Indian River State College Swimming and Diving Team. Over the past 19 years, Coach Suba has accumulated numerous successes, including 54 National Champions, 24 Diver of the Year awards, and 10 Coach of the Year awards (2025, 2024, 2022, 2021, 2019, 2017, 2015, 2008, 2007, and 2006). His divers hold the NJCAA Diving National records on both the 1-meter and 3-meter boards. In 2025, he was awarded the NJCAA Coaches Legacy Award for both men and women. Under his leadership, his divers have graduated and moved on to diving programs at the University of Tennessee, University of Louisville, East Carolina University, Florida State University, UNLV, University of Richmond, and Florida Gulf Coast University.

David came from Columbia, South Carolina, where he ran the age group diving program South Carolina Divers, and served as the Volunteer Assistant Coach at the University of South Carolina, working with Olympic Coach Todd Sherritt. During his tenure, he coached many Junior Olympic National Qualifiers and finalists, along with a number of top-10 team finishes at the U.S. Junior Olympic National Championships.

Coach Suba is originally from Cleveland, Ohio. He graduated from West Liberty University in West Virginia with a degree in Graphic Design. In Ohio, he coached at John Carroll University from 1980–1995. During that time, he produced 8 NCAA All-Americans and 29 Conference Champions. He also coached age-group and high school divers, developing elite-level athletes, including many U.S. Junior Olympic National finalists, two U.S. National Team members, six high school State Champions, and one Olympian, Kyle Prandi. He served as U.S. National Team Coach in 1995 and 1996, as well as U.S. Junior Olympic National Team Coach in 1996.
