River Splits On The Road At Seminole State 

SANFORD, FL- In a stellar performance in the first of two games on Thursday, April 17 The River defeated Seminole State with a final score of 6-1.

The game began with The River taking an early lead in the first inning, as Sarah Phipps singled, driving in a run. The team extended their lead in the third inning and again in the sixth. Thaima Maximiliana hit a solo home run to left field, and Moesha de Paula's 2 RBIs on the day added to the team total. Phipps and Maximiliana each had two hits, while Anaise Piar and Braylee Shields showcased their speed with multiple stolen bases.

J'dah Girigorie earned the win on the mound by allowing just one run on five hits over seven innings, with four strikeouts and no walks. The River stayed aggressive on the base paths, stealing six throughout the game, and played flawlessly on defense, committing zero errors throughout the contest.

In a close contest in game two, Indian River fell just short to the Raiders, with a final score of 5-4. The River started strong, taking the lead in the first inning after Presley Smith hit a sacrifice fly and took advantage of a Seminole State error, each resulting in a run and putting Indian River up early 2-0. The team added another run in the third, but Seminole State rallied and took the lead, 5-3, in the bottom of the fourth inning.

Offensively, Sarah Phipps, Anaise Piar, Nyasia Williams, Kassidy Pontbriant, Thaima Maximiliana, and Smith each contributed hits for Indian River. Pontbriant and Smith each drove in a run, while Phipps stood out on the bases, stealing two of the team's three for the game.
