The River Falls on the Road at St. Johns River State
PALATKA, FL - Indian River State College Volleyball continued its early conference schedule with a road trip to St. Johns River State College on Friday, Sept. 5. Despite battling hard in the opening frame, The River couldn't find a rhythm against the Vikings, dropping the match in straight sets (22–25, 16–25, 16–25).
The River opened the match with energy, trading points with the Vikings in a tightly contested first set. Indian River built momentum with scrappy defense and a few key swings that kept the score close throughout. Late in the set, however, St. Johns River State capitalized on a short run to pull ahead. The River fought off two set points but ultimately fell just short, 22–25.
The second set shifted the momentum firmly in favor of the Vikings. St. Johns River State applied steady serving pressure and forced The River into long rallies. Despite flashes of strong play, Indian River couldn't slow down the Vikings' attack, and the hosts pulled away for a 25–16 win.
Looking to extend the match, The River came out aggressive in the third set but found themselves playing from behind early. St. Johns River State maintained control at the net and limited Indian River's scoring runs, steadily building their lead. The Vikings closed out the frame 25–16 to secure the sweep.
