The River Rolls Past South Florida State in Straight Sets

FORT PIERCE, FL - The River volleyball team defended home court in style Thursday night, sweeping South Florida State College in their first conference home match of the season. The River overpowered the Panthers in straight sets, 25-9, 25-23, 25-19.

The River came out firing in the opening set, using aggressive serving and quick tempo on offense to overwhelm the Panthers and cruise to a commanding 25-9 win. South Florida fought back in the second set, keeping it close with strong defense and timely swings, but The River showed poise in crunch time — pulling away late to take it 25-23. In the third, The River's balanced attack and steady serve receive kept them in control, sealing the sweep with a 25-19 finish in front of their home crowd.

Next week brings three more chances for The River to protect their home court as they continue conference play. The stretch begins Wednesday, September 24, when they host the State College of Florida Manatees.
