Indian River Falls to Lake-Sumter
FORT PIERCE, FL - Indian River falls to 24-8 overall after a rain-shortened game against Lake-Sumter, losing 6-2.
Indian River took an early two-run lead on RBIs from Maikol Lucena and Matty Davis in the bottom of the first. Dane Rossi, a freshman left-hander, worked around some walks in the first two innings before giving up two runs in the top of the third to tie the game. The left-hander went four innings, only allowing those two runs on three hits.
Lake-Sumter scored four in the top of the fifth and was threatening to score more in the top of the sixth when lightning halted the game. Rain ultimately stopped the game, and it reverted back to the score at the end of the fifth inning, which finished 6-2. This marks the fourth time Indian River has fallen at home this year.
Offensively, Indian River could not get much going, collecting only six hits. Maikol Lucena had two of the six hits for Indian River.
Indian River will be back at home this Thursday at 5 p.m. to start Citrus Conference play against Polk State.
