The River Takes One On The Road

LAKE WORTH, FL -  Indian River State College edged Palm Beach State 4–3 on Tuesday, breaking a late tie with the go-ahead run in the top of the ninth inning.

The game was knotted at three entering the final frame when a Palm Beach State error allowed the decisive run to score. Robert Kramer also delivered in the inning with an RBI single to center field to help tie the win.

The River struck first in the top of the first inning. Andy Schroeder doubled down the left-field line to drive in a run, and David Pina followed with an RBI single to right to give the Pioneers an early 2–0 advantage.

Palm Beach State responded in the bottom of the fourth, taking a 3–2 lead behind a trio of run-scoring plays. A double down the left-field line and a groundout by the Panthers scored the first two runs, and Torres added another RBI groundout to put the Panthers ahead.

Indian Rivers pitching held firm late. John Gillen earned the win with a scoreless inning of relief, allowing just one hit while striking out one. Dane Blake Rossi got the start for the River and tossed three scoreless innings, striking out three and walking one. Anderson picked up the save, while Anthony Linares, Ethan LaPointe, and Nick Burgos combined for shutdown relief appearances.

And Schroeder led the Pioneers offense, going 2-for-2 at the plate. Jacob Souza caused problems on the basepaths, stealing two bases as the River swiped three total and turned one double play defensively.

Indian River will be heading up to Panama Beach over the next two days to play Northeast Mississippi, Northwest State College, and Tallahasse State College.
