River Blanks Polk State Behind Dominant Combined Shutout

FORT PIERCE, FL - The River defeated Polk State 5-0 on Thursday, powered by a dominant combined shutout from Anthony Linares and Javi Miranda.

The River broke through in the bottom of the sixth inning, using timely hitting to take control. Camren Baker delivered the big moment with a single that drove in two runs to open the scoring.

Javi Miranda got the start on the mound, tossing six scoreless innings. The right-hander allowed just three hits while striking out six and walking three. Anthony Linares came on in relief and was equally effective, throwing three shutout innings. He gave up three hits, struck out three, and didn't issue a walk, sealing the win with a double play to end the game.

The River totaled 10 hits offensively. Niko Benested and Finn Duran each recorded two hits, while Andy Schroeder, David Pina, and Duran each drove in a run. The River also played clean defense, turning two double plays.

Polk State was led offensively by Montenegro, Testerman, Muller, Brunet, Cruz, and Acevedo, who each recorded one hit.

Indian River improves to 14-14-1 overall and 7-9 in the Citrus Conference. The River will look to extend its conference winning streak and win its second series of the year Saturday as they head to Polk.
