The River Wins Series Against St. Petersburg

FORT PIERCE, FL - The River split a pair of games with St. Petersburg on Saturday, falling 13–3 in Game 1 before bouncing back with a 4–2 win in Game 2. With the split, the River's overall record now stands at 20–23–1, while Citrus Conference play moves to 13–17. The River will wrap up the regular season this coming week against Central Florida.

In Game 1, the River couldn't keep pace with St. Petersburg in a 13–3 loss. St. Petersburg jumped out early, scoring in the first inning on a solo home run and continuing to build momentum in the second with a bases-clearing triple and an RBI single. They added more in the third, including a three-run homer, to extend the lead.

The River's offense came in the bottom of the third when Niko Benested launched a three-run home run to left field. Despite collecting nine hits in the game, the River couldn't close the gap. Benested led the way with three RBIs, going 2-for-3, while Cam Baker, Benested, and Robert Kramer each recorded two hits.

Blake Anderson started on the mound, allowing nine runs over 2.1 innings, while St. Petersburg's starter limited the River to three runs across five innings. St. Petersburg finished with 13 hits, led by Upperman, who drove in five runs.

Game 2 saw a much stronger performance from the River, who secured a 4–2 victory behind a standout day from Kramer. He went 3-for-4 with a home run in the first inning and added two singles later in the game.

The River got all its runs early, scoring in the first inning on an RBI single by Niko Benested, followed by Robert Kramer's three-run homer. Max Gonzalez delivered a solid start, allowing just two unearned runs over five innings while striking out five. The bullpen duo of Rossi and Linares combined for scoreless relief to preserve the win.

Defensively, the River turned three double plays to help control the game.

The River now turns its focus to Central Florida as it closes out the regular season.
