The River Volleyball team hit the road this past weekend for a two-match slate in the Florida Panhandle, taking on Gulf Coast State College in Panama City on Saturday before traveling west to face Pensacola State College on Sunday.
PANAMA CITY, FL - The River struggled to find their rhythm in Panama City Saturday, September 13, dropping a straight-set match to the Commodores (15-25, 15-25, 14-25). From the opening serve, Gulf Coast applied steady pressure, and The River was unable to generate consistent momentum. Despite flashes of competitive play, errors and missed opportunities limited any extended runs, keeping the team from establishing its groove.
PENSACOLA, FL- On Sunday, September 14, The River returned to the court with renewed energy against the Pirates, ultimately falling in four sets (22-25, 20-25, 25-15, 12-25).
The River came out with strong intensity and often looked in control of the match, but unforced errors in the opening two sets proved costly. In the third set, the team flipped the script, executing the game plan with precision. Aggressive serving, sharp defense, and efficient attacking rattled Pensacola State as The River rolled to a convincing 25-15 win.
Unfortunately, inconsistency resurfaced in the fourth set. A string of unforced errors allowed Pensacola State to pull away early, and despite continued effort, The River couldn't recover.
The River will travel to Lake Worth on Wednesday, Sept. 17, to take on Palm Beach State College to continue conference play. First serve is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
