River Secures Series Win Over the Hawks

FORT PIERCE, FL - River earned a hard-fought split in Saturday's doubleheader against Hillsborough College, taking game one with a 2-1 victory before falling 4-0 in the second matchup.

In the opener, River leaned on timely hitting and a strong pitching performance to secure the win. The bottom of the lineup proved key, as Anthony Espinoza, Vinny Dinzeo, and Robert Kramer combined for four of the team's eight hits while scoring two runs and driving in one.

River broke through in the bottom of the second inning when Vinny Dinzeo doubled down the left field line and EJ Burns followed with a single to left, each driving in a run to give River an early 2-0 lead.

Blake Anderson delivered an outstanding performance on the mound, tossing a complete game. The right-hander allowed just four hits and one run over seven innings while striking out six and issuing no walks. Hillsborough College matched River's intensity on the mound, with their staff also recording six strikeouts.

At the plate, Andy Schroeder led the way with a perfect 3-for-3 performance, while Robert Kramer added two hits in two at-bats. Dinzeo and Burns each recorded an RBI. Defensively, River turned a double play in the win.

Hillsborough College managed just four hits in game one, with Palmi, Calzadilla, Conti, and Walker each recording one. Baysinger drove in their lone run, and the team played clean defense without committing an error.

In game two, Hillsborough College responded with a 4-0 victory, using an early offensive surge to take control. They struck first in the second inning when Scott launched a two-run home run to left field.

River starter Gonzalez allowed two runs on five hits over four innings, striking out two and walking one. Hillsborough's Jacquez kept River's offense in check, tossing five scoreless innings while allowing just two hits and striking out five.

River's offense was limited to four hits in the game, with Anthony Espinoza, Niko Benested, Finn Duran, and Robert Kramer each recording one.

Hillsborough College totaled 11 hits in the contest, led by Calzadilla, Peralta, and Walker with two hits apiece. Baysinger and Scott each drove in two runs. Hillsborough again played error-free defense, with Baysinger leading the way in the field.

River will look to build on the split as they continue conference play.
